In this modern world, there are still many preconceptions to overcome. Gender, religion, and politics still divide and gather us in defined groups. But what can’t ever divide is love. Eurochannel presents Hidden Kisses, a film that provokes us to ponder our views of love in every sense!
Directed by Didier Bivel (also director of Some Place Else, previously aired on Eurochannel), Hidden Kisses tells the story of Nathan, a 16-year-old teenager facing one of the hardest times of his life. After a school party, a photo of him kissing Louis, another boy, is published on social networks, making him the target of bullies and homophobic retaliations.
Reflecting on controversial themes like homosexuality and bullying, Hidden Kisses portrays two scenarios common to day. There is Stephane, Nathan’s father, a police chief whose shock after his son comes out is rapidly overcome by a great sense of understanding, nurturing and love. On the other hand, Louis’s father reacts with rage, criticizing his son’s choice and rejecting him, driving him to attempt suicide.
Thanks to the exceptional performances of Bérenger Anceaux, Patrick Timsit and Bruno Putzulu, and its poignant plot, Hidden Kisses won the Critics Award at the 18th Festival des Créations Télévisuelles de Luchon.
