What makes this short film work so well is how relatable the panic feels. Chris is invited to a pool party, which is basically the ultimate test of nerves when you are feeling insecure. He thinks Aiden, the incredibly handsome guy who invited him, is totally out of his league. You watch Chris stumble through awkward conversations, deal with the dread of running into his ex, and ultimately hide in a bathroom just to catch his breath.
The Cast Makes It Click
Christopher Matias Aguila is fantastic as Chris. He nails that specific mix of being completely terrified but still really funny. You root for him instantly because he feels like a real person having a genuine panic attack over wearing swim trunks. His awkward energy carries the whole story.
Then there is Francisco San Martin as Aiden. He could easily just be the standard hot guy in the background, but he brings a really sweet and grounded vibe to the role. He actually seems interested in Chris for his personality, which is a really nice detail. Liz Jenkins is also great as Dana, the supportive best friend who refuses to let Chris feel sorry for himself and pushes him out of his comfort zone.
Perfect Daytime Comedy
It is a short and lighthearted comedy that does not try to be overly dramatic. The whole atmosphere is very relaxed, perfectly capturing the chaotic energy of a daytime gay pool party where everyone is trying a bit too hard. The humor lands perfectly, especially the bathroom pep talks and the painfully awkward interactions with guests.
