The Lost Language of Cranes (1991): When Coming Out Breaks the Whole House
09/04/2008
The Lost Language of Cranes is a slow, literate British drama about a young man who comes out to his parents and accidentally exposes the closet his father has been living in for decades. Between Philip’s fragile relationship with Eliot and Owen’s secret double life, the film peels back layers of silence, shame and love with painful precision. It is not flashy, but it feels deeply human and strangely current, even all these years later.
Director: Nigel Finch
