A film by Gage Oxley, starring Jack Parr in a provocative and twisted short film that aims to bring light to one of the darkest issues that face the gay community. This World We Live In is the first instalment of the ODYSSEY, a series of short films to commemorate the 50th anniversary of decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK in 2017.

      This world we live in
Gage Oxley is a Writer/Director from Leeds, United Kingdom, working primarily on films with challenging LGBTQ* narratives. He launched the ‘Odyssey’ film series in 2017 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK. This series began with ‘This World We Live In’ which received international acclaim at festivals and screenings, and continues to challenge audiences online. The second instalment, ‘Pulse’ reached over 2,000,000 people online and screened at Vancouver International Film Festival, and the BFI Flare LGBT Festival in London, the UK’s largest LGBTQ* film festival.

Oxley’s most recent feature-length film, ‘Wretched Things’ had its World Premiere at Vue, Leicester Square in January 2019; created with his production company Oxygen Films. Oxygen are managed by a group of passionate young people intent on raising further discussion through enthralling fictional film. We are proud to continue creating provocative and thought-provoking content on such challenging topics as mental health, sexuality and identity.

Managing Director Gage Oxley won the Love Arts Award for his work surrounding accurate representation of these important issues in 2016, was nominated for a National Diversity Award in the LGBTQ* Role Models category in 2017 and alongside Oxygen Films in the company award in 2018. As Long As I’m Famous (2019) – Sid Lumet, Montgomery Clift and a Queer Summer in New York

As Long As I’m Famous (2019) plays like a gay backstage fantasy about young Sidney Lumet’s summer with Montgomery Clift and other Broadway idols, talky, messy and painfully honest about what it costs to orbit famous men without ever being one of them.
