Joseph A. Adesunloye is an award winning British-Nigerian Filmmaker. He was nominated for the BFI IWC Schaffhausen Filmmakers Bursary Award at the 60th BFI London Film Festival in 2016.

In 2017 Joseph was longlisted ‘Best Debut Screenwriter’ for the prestigious BIFA Awards (British Independent Film Awards) where his film White Colour Black was longlisted for a total of two Awards including the category of ‘Most Promising New Comer’ for the film’s star Dudley O’Shaughnessy. Though White Colour Black is Joseph’s feature film debut as a director, Joseph has been in the film industry for a decade. He’s directed numerous shorts and worked as Producer & Co-Producer on other shorts and features.

Joseph graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Masters of Arts English Literature & Film Studies. He later attended the London Film Academy where he completed a filmmaking diploma, focusing on directing and screenwriting. After graduating in 2008 he started freelancing in film and set up his own film production company, DreamCoat Productions.

Joseph’s new short film 46 tackled the difficult topic of male rape. 46 had its world premiere at the Raindance Film Festival. 46 was also nominated ‘Best UK Short’ for its outstanding and bold treatment of the subject. The film is currently playing the festival circuit.

In 2014 Joseph’s short Beyond Plain Sight also premiered at Raindance and was nominated ‘Best British Short Film’. The film went on to play BFI Flare, London Short Film Festival and other festivals across the world.

Joseph is currently completing postproduction work on his second feature film Faces which stars Terry Pheto (Tsotsi, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, A United Kingdom) Shingai Shoniwa (The Noisettes) Matthieu Charneau (Arnaud fait son 2e film, The Bastard Executioner, Bad Bunny) Aki Omoshaybi (The Riot Club, Kids In Love, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Suzette Llewellyn (Desmond’s, Holby City, EastEnders, Coronation Street)
