Andrew, portrayed by Donovan Napoli, is an ordinary teenager with an extraordinary crush. Mesmerized by Ricky's confidence and athleticism, Andrew musters the courage to interact with him when Ricky approaches him to sell coupon books for a soccer team fundraiser. Despite the doubts of his best friend Joelle, Andrew finds himself drawn to Ricky, only to discover a surprising twist: Ricky shares Andrew's attraction and identity as a gay individual. This revelation sets the stage for a heartwarming journey of self-acceptance and teenage romance.

 

 

“Just Ask Him” follows Andrew, a teenage boy who harbors a crush on Ricky, a new transfer student at his school. Andrew is captivated by Ricky’s presence, particularly his skills on the soccer field. When Ricky approaches Andrew to sell him a coupon book for a soccer team fundraiser, Andrew is taken aback by his sudden interaction.

Despite Andrew’s friend Joelle’s skepticism about Ricky’s sexuality and intentions, Andrew finds himself drawn to Ricky. At home, Andrew daydreams about impressing Ricky with his athletic prowess, only to be interrupted by his mother who senses his turmoil regarding his feelings for another boy. She encourages him not to be afraid to pursue what he wants, prompting Andrew to gather the courage to approach Ricky.

As Andrew hesitantly tries to engage Ricky in conversation, Ricky surprises him by revealing that he is also gay. Initially taken aback by Ricky’s admission, Andrew eventually musters the courage to ask Ricky to the upcoming dance, which Ricky agrees to attend with him, relieved to find someone who understands his situation. The film ends on a hopeful note, suggesting a promising connection between Andrew and Ricky as they navigate their shared identity together.
