SOFT was an official selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival. The film is currently on Amazon Prime for a 10-day festival (ends May 6th) and on Mailchimp Presents SXSW Shorts (a partnership with Oscilloscope Labs). The short was created with the help of Sundance Institute. Sundance provided Daniel with the Sundance Ignite Grant and mentors like Ira Sachs and Andrew Ahn.
The film foccuses on how sexual assault affects queer identity and masculinity. The film is based on true events that Daniel experienced as a teenager. Last year, he began to explore this topic in an article for Teen Vogueโs award-winning wellness section.
