Merchant Ivory is a feature documentary film produced and directed by Stephen Soucy in collaboration with Oscar-winner, Director, and Screenwriter, James Ivory. James Ivory has given his full support of this project. The film will be the definitive presentation of the 50-year history and partnership of James Ivory and Ismail Merchant. There will be a deep-dive on the films they made during their strongest decade of work, when as a production entity they found their niche of adapting several literary masterpieces to the screen. This was the period when their films connected most with audiences, garnered the most awards, and when Merchant Ivory became an adjective to describe their “style” of filmmaking. There is no partnership in the history of cinema like Merchant Ivory Films.
