The Postcard” is a 2007 short film directed by Josh Kim.
A post office clerk mistakenly thinks that a customer is trying to get her attention by writing open love letters on postcards he sends out. However, although he is trying to catch someone’s attention with these missives, they are actually meant for another postal worker.

The movie reminded me of an event that happened a few years ago. Every day after work, I would buy cigarettes at a newsstand where a handsome guy worked. He always seemed a bit confused. One day, while I was sitting in a café with a friend and having coffee, he came by, smiled, and said, ‘I’m glad to see you here,’ and walked away.

Later that same day, I went to the newsstand to buy cigarettes and said to him, ‘I’m glad to see you here, and it would be even better if we could have coffee together next time.
